Let’s talk about the perfect Fall wedding day that Shawn & Kelsey had! Oh my goodness! After what felt like weeeeeeks of rain, their wedding day was sunny and beyond beautiful! There was the beginning of Fall chill in the air, and it really was just the perfect day!

Their day began at the most beautiful Hill Crest Mansion Bed & Breakfast in Clifton Forge, Virginia, where Kelsey got pampered with a mimosa bar, hair, makeup, and celebrations with her bridesmaids! Oh the bridal portraits we got on the porch there are to.die.for! The Southern Charm, I am just obsessed!

Their ceremony and reception was held on Shawn & Kelsey’s Farm and property- and guys, let me tell you! It was BEAUTIFUL! Tucked away in the middle of Eagle Rock, Virginia- there are mountain views every way you turn! Their friends and family gathered together to celebrate with them and they had a party! SO.MUCH.FUN.

First Presbyterian Church of Danville and The Danville Golf Club Wedding || Josh & Nancy's Wedding

Josh & Nancy had such a gorgeous October wedding! Their day started at the First Presbyterian Church, where they had a classy ceremony and then they headed over to the Danville Country Club for dinner and a big reception. They had so many friends and family join them to celebrate the beginning of their marriage! After what seems like weeks of rain, it was the perfect day, gorgeous light, and overall the most fun day!

Nancy’s detail were simple, classic, and her dress was absolute perfection! Seeing her step into her dress with her hair and makeup done- goodness she was stunning! Everyone was speechless when she walked down the aisle!

After the ceremony, we explored a little in the downtown Danville area- and took some photos around the First Presbyterian Church and next door, at the Last Capitol of the Confederacy. We stopped by the HOME sign on the way to the reception, and then arrived at the beautiful Danville Golf Club.

The reception was SUCH a blast! SO many people dancing, laughing, and catching up! I love when you can just really tell how much a couple is loved by seeing how much fun their guests are having!

Congrats Josh & Nancy!! It was such an honor to be a part of your wedding day!!

Motherhood & Small Business: Our Personal Photos || Lynchburg, VA Wedding Photographer

I’m ashamed to admit how horrible I’ve been at this- but I’m making it my mission to catch up and be better about it! What am I talking about? Printing out our own personal photos. I know, I know- something I preach about with my clients. It’s SO important for our memories and children to have these photos to be able to relive and talk about important moments in our lives! We had a handful of little photobooks printed out and it’s one of Emmie’s favorite things to look through and talk about certain moments.  

The problem, I did not have all of my personal photos in one place. In fact, quite the opposite. Why this is the case, I have NO idea because I am beyond careful to have triple backups of all of my client photos and should be treating my own with just as much importance!

So, I’ve been working hard on getting everything in one place, organized by year and then by month. And from here, I’m creating chatbooks- about 3-4 per year as an overview and then a full book for special occasions- like vacations, family photos, etc.  It’s not anything too special or expensive- but it’s at least PRINTING out our photos and make sure we’ve got everything in a place together!

First thing I did was take a few days and collect all of our personal photos- from cell phones, instagram posts, a few different computers and external hard drives. Do you see why I’m embarrassed to admit how bad this problem is? It was SO fun going through all the photos- Emmie as a little baby and all these memories that I had totally forgotten about! That in itself was SO motivating to finish up collecting all these photos!  

Once I had them in one place, I sorted through by the years and then the months, making it super simple to then upload them to chatbooks by months!  I’m still working on getting all the books organized and ordered & can’t wait to update once I do!!

Lynchburg, VA Engagement Session || James & Tresa

I can't even begin to tell you my excitement when I turned into the entrance of Sweet Briar College and saw how much color was still around! All week, I've been shooting with very limited options- you know- the trees with the half-dead dark orange leaves barely hanging on. Somehow, it's like this little area has been protected from all of the wind and rain we've had lately and all of the gorgeous color was there! 

James & Tresa drove down from Northern Virginia to Charlottesville for their engagement session, and then met me at Sweet Briar, which is only about 30 miles from the Lynchburg area. I love this spot because there are a ton of options and so much variety- between the boat house, open fields, brick buildings, and the barns- there's something for almost everyone! 

We had a great time getting to know each other- their adorable pup, Foster came along and you know I LOVE it when fur babies get included! We chatted all about their upcoming wedding at the Knights Gambit Vineyard in Charlottesville, Virginia- it's going to be BEAUTIFUL and so much fun! 

Thanks James & Tresa for making the trip down to Lynchburg! I LOVED LOVED LOVED getting to know you both and can't wait for your big day!!!

Lynchburg, Virginia Fall Wedding || Levi & Chelsea's Wedding at The Trivium Estate

Guys! My wedding season for 2017 wrapped up last weekend and OH MY GOODNESS! It was a perfect wedding to wrap up my year! Chelsea & Levi got married overlooking the Blue Ridge Mountains at The Trivium Estate, in Forest, Virginia.  It was a chilly day, but so worth it! The views, the last remaining trees with fall colors- heaven!! They provided blankets, hot chocolate & cider for their guests while they exchanged vows! 

Chelsea & Levi seriously made this wedding 100% theirs! I mean- wait until you see her engagement ring to know that she's not your fully traditional bride, which I loved! They really personalized things to make it exactly what they wanted for their big day! Her bridesmaids all wore different color jewel tones for their dresses, they included their dog Skully in their first look photos, and they even had a cookie table at their reception! 

Levi & Chelsea knew photos were a priority for them, and my goodness were they troopers! As the sun started to set, the chill really set in, but neither of them complained once! We pretty much couldn't feel our fingers by the end of their portrait time, but we all warmed up quickly inside the gorgeous reception hall where all of their guests were dancing and having a blast! 

I am so excited to share these gorgeous photos! Her details, this dress, and their love for each other made this day such a dream for me! Thank you Levi & Chelsea for choosing me and hand designing the perfect wedding day to wrap up my season!! I hope you are having a blast on your winery honeymoon in the mountains!!
