Eeeek! I love this family session! Dan & Mariah were visiting family for the weekend- and lucky for me we were able to head out for some photos of their beautiful family!  They are so cute- I swear it's IMPOSSIBLE to take a bad picture of this family!!  

We headed down to Percival's Island in downtown Lynchburg and had such a blast! The light was PERFECT- and I am seriously obsessed with their outfit choices! I LOVE mixing and matching patterns- and they did such an excellent job of not 'matching' but choosing colors within the patterns that go well together!

saying a final goodbye to our sweet pup: a personal post

If you've noticed it's been a bit quiet around here this week, it's true.  We sadly had to put our sweet dog, Linus, down last week.  He had been pretty sick for a while, but it is still so heart breaking.  Michael got Linus as a small little pup.  I typically try to keep things lighthearted and fun around here, so forgive me, but I just wanted to share. 

After making the appointment with the vet, we decided to make sure we had one last great night with him- something we could always talk about with Emmie, so we headed to one of our favorite local parks, Peaksview Park, in Lynchburg, Virginia.  Our sweet friend, Miranda, came with us and we enjoyed a nice walk, and even got Linus in the water- one of his very favorite things to do.  

Linus was the biggest pain in the butt, but also the sweetest dog ever.  We truly loved him and have some of the best memories with him over the last 8 years! 

I truly had no idea how difficult this would be- we are seriously missing a piece of our family.  So thankful for the time we had with him- even when he was chewing up my furniture and digging through our basement door (a story for another day! ha).

Emerson's First Day of School

Against ALL of my protesting, summer is ending and back-to-school is officially here.  

Em decided all on her own that she know wants her friends and teachers to call her Emerson- not Emmie anymore.  No idea where this idea of hers came from, but since Emerson was my name choice and Emmie was Michaels- I'm 100% okay with it!! haha

Ignore the iPhone quality- we got in town suuuuuuuuper late from Delaware the night before- and we were lucky to have a semi-healthy lunch packed for her today! ha! Her teachers always know when we're out of town over the weekend and she comes in with a hodge-podge of a lunch! 

Em lost a lot of her friends to kindergarten so she was a little sad about going back to school today- but we really made her feel important by telling her she needed to be the big helper and help the new kids that would be scared and missing their parents- worked like a charm! That, and I let her wear her "down dress" with slippers, a little Elsa braid so her hair could be long and beautiful, and some sparkly lip gloss for her special day.  ;) 

We got a picture in front of this bench on her first day of preschool last year, and the last day of the year too! It will be so fun collecting these and seeing how much she grows during the year! 

Emmie took her job VERY seriously- she had to go in and see her best friend from last years' little sister- who was doing just fine, but Emmie gave her a hug and told her she was going to have lots of fun at school! Sweet girl!! :) 

And this last one is so awesome to me! They write their name EVERY morning when they come in to school- this was her first time writing out 'Emerson' and she did SO SO good! (I did have to help with the "S" but geeeeze, let me have my proud mom moment! hahahaha)

I'm excited to see how much she learns this year!!! But hopefully, she stops growing somewhere in there! ;) or at least PAUSES it!! 

Nassau Valley Vineyard Wedding: Justin & Meghan

OH MY GOODNESS! This weekend was truly MAGIC!!! Justin & Meghan's wedding was just perfection- we had THE best time celebrating with them at the Nassau Valley Vineyard in Lewes, Delaware!  

I have truly loved getting to know Meghan over the past few months.  I always talk about forming friendships with my brides- and goodness the more I got to know Meghan, the more you just fall in love with her! Her & Justin are SO encouraging and loving towards each other- and hearing their vows they wrote to each other- promises to always put God first and the other one ahead of their own.  It was such an honor to be here to document these moments!  

Michael always makes fun of me for getting emotional during weddings- and man there were SO many touching and emotional moments at their wedding! I am just SO excited for them and their marriage!!

The girls were SO calm when I walked in- it was so peaceful and relaxing when I walked in- LOVED how supportive and encouraging her sweet bridesmaids were to her! Everything was hung up for me already, all the details set aside- everything was thought through! LOVE weddings like this!! 

Justin wrote Meghan a note, so Meg took a moment away from the crowd to sit and read his letter. I love these moments! So sweet and special!! 

LOOOOOOOVED their First Look Moments! They are seriously THE sweetest, happiest couple ever. I just love documenting these moments they will remember forever! 

RIGHT after the ceremony, we jumped in the limo and drove down to the beach for some photos!!! We caused quite the commotion with all the people on the beach, but ohh for these photos- it was SO worth it!! 

Then we headed back to the vineyard and got some ahhhhh-mazing photos in the grape vines! 

Meg did the best job decorating and putting her touches on everything! And I was so impressed, the guys got up early that morning and put all the table centerpieces together! What keepers there!!
